Open Mic Friday

Great video clip that Sarah forwarded me:

Another good one:

If bad policies aren't a good enough reason to not be a liberal or Democrat, try watching 10 minutes of The View. They are ridiculous.

Anyone who actually watched the news during the 08 election and didn't think the media and most of the major networks were in the bag for Obama is either blind, deaf, or just stupid. Our media should give us the facts, report the stories, tell us what is going on, and try as hard as they can to eliminate bias and opinions from their news reporting. I don't want their opinion, I just want the facts. I'll make up my own damn mind. We have a serious problem in this country when our media leans in one political direction or another.

  1. Yes our new is very sided, hence why I don't watch it. That is a funny video though, but another reason why I don't watch.

~Wow....I think without that comment - the rest that followed would have had a chance. However, its hard to read on when you begin with a very biased opinion yourself. Understandably so, Im sure many people agree with you, but perhaps next time, remind yourself not to be a hypocrite. :)
Minus the first sentence of the paragraph, its a very strong statement, that i even agree with about the media. But, the first part, is just proving that not only the media present biased opinions in public.

  3. #1 I don't represent the media so I can voice my opinions. I have never claimed to be unbias nor is this blog intended to be or presented as a forum for presenting the facts. I have an opinion and a very strong one at that and I use this blog as an outlet to voice my opinions which is my constitutional right.

#2 The View is a commentary show so they can say whatever they want and I have no problem with that. My second comment was directed more at news shows, which perhaps I should have clarified instead of using the general term "media". My first comment wasn't really related to the second one. My point was that the women on The View are ridiculous and I disagree with just about everything that they say. If I was a Democrat, I would be embarrassed that I was on the same side of issues as a bunch of old cracked out hippie liberal women that oooze stupidity.

#3 I probably should have separated my posts into two more definitive sections so as to make the two comments not look related. If I had it to do over again it would have looked like this:

    Open Mic Friday

Item 1: The View and the women on it are stupid. Democrats should be embarassed that they share the same ideas as those women. I'm glad they are enjoying their right to free speech, but listening to them makes me want to vote to have that right taken away from us. They make me feel bloated and ill. Except for Elizabeth, she's pretty.

Item 2: Many of our news outlets in this country were in the bag for Obama during the 08 election. We have big problems in this country when you turn on the news and get opinions presented as fact. Networks have an ethical responsibility to present the factual parts of stories instead of using their power and resources to spin issues one direction or another. The original intention of the news and media was to look out for us, the people. It has turned into a game of information manipulation that is controlled by politicians and advertisers.

  4. Would you rather:

    a) Listen to the air slowly being let out of a balloon - for the rest of your life
    b) Actually have to make the decision between saving the stanger or your dog
    c) Have all of the dental work you need done without any novocaine
    d) Watch a full episode of The View

  5. RandiB- When two people disagree, there is only one way to get to the bottom of it. A poll.

  6. While I can't argue with anything that you say, I do have a few points to make:

    A. Why does the print and television media lean to the left? I do not think it's a conspiracy. I think it is just because those jobs are more often appealing to left leaning people. And asking those people to be unbias is fine, but unrealistic. Even if they tried to be unbias (which I believe some do), they would not be able to do so. Everyone see's things from their own perspective and responds accordingly.

    B. Isn't Obama just way more likeable than either McCain or Palin? McCain is like 130 years old and just gross to look at, and I personally liked Palin and felt way better about McCain winning after she joined his campaign, but you have to admit that she did and said a lot of really stupid things throughout the entire process. She was just very unpolished, and she's extremely hot, which makes her an even easier target.

    C. Anyone who actually watched the news during the 08 election and didn't think that Fox news was the most bias, one sided news network of all is just blind, deaf, or stupid. In my own bias opinion, they were the only network that seems to have a clear cut agenda that a 6 year old couldn't miss.

    D. Yes, The View is ridiculous and quite possibly the worst show on television.

  7. A. I agree, don't think it's a conspiracy either. I don't really know why more seem to lean to the left. I agree that 100% unbias reporting is impossible, we're humans for crying outloud. But I'm not asking for perfection, I'm asking for an effort.

    B. Yes Obama is much more likeable, well spoken, and inspiring that Palin and McCain. Yes McCain is very old, very old. Palin is hot and said dumb Bushesq type things during the election. It would be a mistake for the Republicans to put her as the front runner in the next election. I like some of the things she says but she isn't nearly as polished or well spoken as she needs to be.

    C. Have you ever watched MSNBC?

    D. Amen.

  8. Mad Props Thursday...carry overs...

Props to RandiB for having an opinion and not being afraid to expressing it...also, well written.

    Props to Jake for consistency.

What's the opposite of props? Because I would like to give that to everyone else for being too busy on a Friday to post anything awesome.

  9. Jake - Would a :) after calling someone a hypocrite be the equivalent of questioning someone's professionalism and then signing an email with "Respectfully ______" ???

  12. Jake – I actually like the remixed version of your post better than the original. I agree with you on both points. Watching The View should be a torture tactic to extract information from terrorists. Problem is that if there is anyone else around watching it too they would probably kill themselves and the terrorists would get away. Next - It is frustrating that you can’t listen to a single radio show or television show and get an unbiased opinion about either side of the arguments. I personally didn’t start paying any attention until about 5 years ago so naturally I was trying to decide where I stand on many of the issues. Some of which I am still undecided at times. I use to get so irritated because there wasn’t one show I could watch or listen to that would present the facts so that I can make my own decisions. I constantly felt that someone was trying to persuade me to be on their side. I listen to the radio more than I watch the news but I know that radio shows are all on one side or the other….none can just state the facts and shut the f--- up so I can decide.

RandiB – It’s great to see new comers make such bold statements right away. Keep them coming.

  14. The closest that I have come to finding an "unbiased" news outlet is the POTUS channel on XM/Serius satellite radio. They have across the board been the most consistent in presenting information and events without the typical filters.

Check them out if you can.

  15. I must say I haven't seen as much MSNBC as I have Fox News, but it's hard to see how they can even compete. I will give them a shot to be the worst though!!

I think another thing worth mentioning is how the line between news and entertainment have been blurred. You say this blog is a forum to give your opinion and you are right in saying that, but news channels and newspapers have blogs now too, and they don't have the same restrictions and standards held against them that more traditional media outlets do.

Fox News is obviously a "news" channel, but half of their shows are just hard right winged republicans spouting off a bunch of crap....no news whatsoever. I don't really think it makes much of a difference at all. I think most people believe what they believe and then go find the tv or radio show that convinces them that their opinion is right.

  16. You give people too much credit. I think the masses follow what they are told. If the media broadcasts far liberal ideals I think that many people start believing it. The same goes if the news channels are broadcasting conservative ideals.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I definitely think the masses are all followers...don't get me wrong...I just don't think it comes from media outlets. I would say it comes more from your parents ideals, the area you grow up in, how much money you have, etc. If the media makes that much of a difference how did George Bush ever come close to becoming president much less be re-elected. I'm sure their is a percentage of people that are truly affected by what the media says, I just don't think it's as significant as some of you apparently do.
